| First Baptist church has recently adopted a new Mission Statement. You have already read it on the first page of this website. "The First Baptist Church of Meridian is a body of believers dedicated to helping people experience the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ." We have bound ourselves together in a "covenant" relationship we call "church" because we have a common dedication. We believe all people need to experience "saving grace," and we believe that gift comes only from Jesus Christ, Who - alone - is Lord. So then, representing Jesus and helping people - that's what FBC is all about. Do we do it perfectly? Of course not, but we have a target, and we would be happy to have any help with our aim that you can bring! I am not the permanent pastor. I am the interim pastor, and we have a Pastor Search Committee that is hard at work. My wife, Betty, and I have fallen in love with this church and the wonderful people of Meridian, but we are praying with the congregation for that man God is preparing to come and lead this flock into a challenging and exciting future. Pray with us! If you are not a First Baptist regular, come on over and get acquainted. If we can offer you any assistance of any kind, please let us know. Remember, Jesus is Lord.
